Colonial School District’s single goal is to improve the academic achievement of all students. We’ve shown remarkable success in meeting that goal because we sincerely believe that all our students can meet high standards and we work hard to ensure that they will.

Colonial has always been noted for its concentration on what’s important. We’re not interested in flashy programs or constant change. Our curriculum has been a model for the state, and we have developed a system to review and update it regularly. We concentrate our energies and resources on helping students master the rigorous Delaware standards. This has paid off with steadily improving test scores, a marked reduction in the achievement gap, and good school ratings.

Our students’ success is built on the expertise of our staff — the best-trained in the state. Our professional development program helps educators become experts in standards-based instruction. We also put effort into training other employees to ensure that their work will support our goal.

We take pride in our district, our staff, our students, and our facilities and it shows. Visit our buildings—all renovated within the past 10 years. Visit our classrooms and see successful students excited about learning. Visit after school hours and see teachers, administrators, and parents working together to ensure that our success continues to grow.

Many of us in Colonial have spent our entire professional careers here because we believe in what the district does and are dedicated to its students. Our community has been equally loyal and supportive through the years. Thanks to them, we can continue to help all students achieve.
